Are you an experienced dancer whose Lindy Hop works perfectly fine in the class room, but finds it challenging dancing on the often crowded social dance floors to up-beat songs? You are likely not the only one 😉
The gap between class-room dancing, aimed at understanding basic movement, and dance-floor execution that feels natural to you and your partner is huge. To bridge this gap, a loooot of practice in a controlled environment with available space and gradual tempo adjustments is required.
This is exactly what »UP-BEAT LINDY HOP« will all be about [Register here …]. In this 8-week course we are going to look at basic Lindy Hop moves, that you already have a good understanding of, and try to figure out why they stop working when the tempo gets hot and how to fix them.
The aim of the course is to push the comfort level of the execution of moves, such as swing out, sugar push, send out, lindy circle, etc by about 40 bpm. This means you will will be able to dance your Lindy Hop to songs with that sweet swinging rhythms around the 160+ bpm mark, such as Lucky Millinders »Savoy« or Duke Ellington’s In a »Mellow Tone«.
- you have a strong will for improvement in your Lindy Hop
- you have been taking Lindy Hop classes for at least 2 years
- you are often participating in social dance evenings / events
- you have already taken part in international swing workshops such as Stir it or Leapin Lindy
And yes: the class will also be fun 🙂
The first class on May 23, 2018 will act as an „audition class“ to form a group with fitting dance level skills.
If you are not completely sure whether you fit this description you are welcome to join our initial lesson on May 23, 2108 where you we will learn and dance a short choreography in which your dancing level will be evaluated.
